The Comant CI 248-5 VHF Communications Antenna is a low-profile aircraft COM antenna designed for reliable voice communications across the 118–137 MHz VHF aviation band. Developed for single-engine aircraft and helicopter applications, the CI 248-5 combines a streamlined design with robust electrical performance for certified aircraft installations.
A key feature of the CI 248-5 is its built-in harmonic suppression filter, providing 80 dB typical harmonic rejection. This allows the antenna to be installed in close proximity to GPS antennas while minimizing interference, making it particularly useful for aircraft where antenna spacing and available mounting locations are limited.
The CI 248-5 features vertical polarization and an omnidirectional radiation pattern, with a 50-ohm RF impedance, maximum VSWR of 2.5:1 and RF power handling of up to 25 watts. Connection to the aircraft coaxial cable is through a standard BNC female connector.
Constructed from molded glass-filled nylon with a white polyurethane enamel finish, the antenna is designed for demanding aviation environments. It is rated for operation from -55°C to +85°C and at altitudes up to 50,000 feet.
The Comant CI 248-5 is FAA TSO approved to C37d and C38d and qualified to RTCA DO-160D, making it a proven VHF COM antenna solution for certified aircraft installations.
